GLASGOW (NELSON) GREYHOUND STADIUM

The Scottish second city of Glasgow had a number of greyhound tracks but one of the first to close was at Nelson. It was situated at 4° 12' W 55° 51' N and first opened on 2nd September 1930. Like so many greyhound tracks at this time, it shared its facilities with the emerging sport of speedway. Indeed it was speedway which was launched first, with the first meeting taking place in 1928.

The independently run flapping track operated for just 7 years and closed its gates in 1937.
